ScanDisc and Defrag

I have been using computers daily for nearly over six years, but had only heard about the defrag. I always feared that if I use that the files may get corrupt!!! But recently I did the defrag on the computer, and I must say it seems to be a really useful tool along with the scan disc (also called the proverbial blue screen of death!) The blue screen of scan disc that comes after the computer is started after the crash scans the disc for corrections, but that is only a preliminary correction. The actual scan disc also contains an option of surface scan that is a more thorough scan of the computer hard-disc.

So when I started the defrag, after the initial scan it said that there were some errors on the disc that could be corrected through the scan disc. So I started the scan disc with the through scan option. After nearly five hours of scan and scanning nearly 1,250,000 sectors, it said that there were only two files that were being linked incorrectly and the disc was absolutely fine. So that was quite a good thing. Thereafter the next day I did the defrag. The defrag took nearly three and half hours. Interestingly, one can actually see the defrag process in graphics with its colours. So that is also quite an interesting thing to watch.

The point is that the defrag is something that improves the file handling process of computer, because this process reorganises the various sectors of computers in a more better manner. In a way its ‘toning’ the computer and the disc. These two tools are important tools for keeping the computer smoothly running.

At lease it gives solace of mind that ones computer is fine, hale and hearty.
